4,888 affordable housing units up for allocation
The Kenyan government has announced the availability of 4,888 affordable housing units across various locations in Nairobi. This marks a significant step forward in addressing the country's housing needs while making the dream of homeownership a reality for many Kenyans.
Located in prime areas including Pangani, Ngara, Jevanjee, Ngong Road, and Lumumba Drive, these units are priced competitively from Ksh 1.85M to 4.4M, depending on size and location. This pricing structure aims to accommodate different income levels and family sizes, making quality housing accessible to a broader segment of the population.
Interested Kenyans can apply through the Boma Yangu portal (bomayangu.go.ke) until December 31, 2024. The application process has been streamlined to ensure transparency and fairness. To qualify, applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged 18 and above, first-time homeowners, and demonstrate regular income with the capacity to finance their purchase through approved channels such as mortgages, cash payments, or SACCO loans.
Priority consideration will be given to first-time homeowners earning between Ksh 20,000 and Ksh 150,000 monthly, aligning with the government's goal of supporting middle-income households in achieving homeownership. Successful applicants will receive notifications through the Boma Yangu portal, marking the beginning of their journey to homeownership.
This initiative represents a significant milestone in Kenya's affordable housing program, offering a practical solution to the housing challenge while contributing to the country's economic growth. For many Kenyans, these units represent not just homes, but stepping stones to financial security and improved quality of life.
